I too own a jeep liberty diesel it is a 2005 automatic trans. Your fuel mileage is approximately the same, I live in Northeast Penna.where the mountains are not the Rockies by any means but there are plenty of steep hills and winding roads.I am happy with the performance of vehicle although maintaince items for engine are expensive fuel filtersand must use synthetic oil. I am dissapointed to learn Jeep is discontinuing diesel option in Liberty for 2007.

I have recently filled up a couple times with B100 (This costs about $.40 a gallon more than regular diesel) and have not noticed any change in milage.
